Description of 8 of Swords

The 8 of Swords card depicts a scene with woman blind-folded and tied with their hands behind their back. She is dressed in red and surrounded on all sides by 8 double-edged swords. A small stream flows beneath her feet and a large castle with red roofing can be seen on a mountain top beyond.

Symbolism & Interperetation for 8 of Swords

Exoteric Symbolism of 8 of Swords

An interesting note on this card is it's resemblance to the area shown in the 4 of Wands, on which we can see two people shouting and celebrating at what seems like a wedding. If these two areas are indeed the same, and I believe they are, then I think we can safely assume that this card signifies an arranged marriage or a marriage simply to join houses. In nearly all cases the marriage is not desired by either of the individuals to be married, but is seen as a duty by the rest of the family.
