Description of Temperance
The Temperance card depicts an angel with large wings, dressed in a flowing white robe with a triangle, the triangle is the symbol of the masculine principal, emblazoned on the chest; if you look closely, you can see the Tetragrammaton h w h y embroidered just above the triangle.
He stands with one foot on the land and one foot in the water and he is pouring water from one chalice to another, left hand to right hand. He wears a golden diadem with the zodiacal symbol of the sun engraved on it, signifying the Hebrew letter Shin v, fire in the elements, the head in man and the hot period of the year.
In the background a great glowing light can be seen that appears to be emitting from the shape of a crown. In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, Keter (The Crown) is the first and highest of the 10 sefirot and is associated with the Crown Chakra.
