Description of The Magician
The Magician depicts a youthful figure wearing magician's robes. It is said that his face was modeled after Apollo, the Olympian deity worshipped in ancient Greece and Rome. With a handsome look, a confident smile and shining eyes. The mysterious symbol of the Holy Spirit, the ancient symbol of infinity, forms a figure 8 horizontally above his head. Around his waist is a serpent devouring it's tail, another symbol of eternity and recognized elsewhere as the Ouroboros, but here it symbolizes more specifically the attainment of eternal life in spirit via the Great Work, or the integration of the shadow.
